N'Golo Kante set for £290,000-a-week
|
Is that what top players get now. Think I've lost the plot.
Ludicrous!

And the Kante still won't buy his own curries.

All this extra revenue the premier league is getting. Keeps filtering down to the players and the agents. Disgraceful. When will it stop?
On the other hand, we cant pay Rice 40k a week.

Isn’t Alexis Sanchez on £400,000 a week? Kante is at least performing well

True, but it's a bit difficult to reduce a players wages when they are playing like a cunt. Sanchez joined man Utd after a couple of very good seasons at arsenal and cost a lot less as his contract was running down, which usually equals a far higher than normal wage.

Yes, he is essentially getting the transfer fee they didn’t have to pay paid to him in wages but he must sometimes see his bank statement and feel slightly embarrassed Or maybe not

Of course he doesn't, I imagine he's weighing up a move to China so he can get above the magical 500k per week figure!

It totals £13,920,000 per year. Let's say £14m.
Problem is when you compare this to the US it's small fry.
People like LeBron James and Stephen Curry in the NBA are on three times that.
Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw in the MLB is on twice that (I appreciate dollars but still a huge gap).
If you look at Forbes highest 100 paid sport stars of 2018 Robinson Cano who plays second baseman for Mariners is on 23.5m dollars a year and he is not even regarded as the best in the league.
So, yes its eye watering, but he is one of the PL's top stars and he is way way off what the worlds top stars earn.
Not sure what my point really is but it does show that, in general, football is behind US sports for pay to top stars.

To think we almost signed him over Pedro Obiang.
Dodged a bullet there...

Russ, US sports can afford higher salaries as there's no transfer fees

It will all go pop at some point. Non-league is becoming more and more popular, and people will not be in a position to pay upwards of £70 a ticket.
I fucking HATE modern-day football

Plus there's far fewer teams in each sport to share the tv/prize money.

Mid-range BAs earn more - or they wouldn't get out of bed to A our B otherwise.
